Ad 1: Quake 3 Arena is an online game where only the quickest and strongest will stand as the winner. Making the connection between the game and human reproduction was a humorous and memorable way to connect with target demographic.
Ad 2: A picture is worth a thousand words. Here are a few: coin-operated, video games, internet, porn, safe sex, and graffiti. It’s all in there! On this ad, as with previous Quake ads, we continued the “trompe l’oeil” technique, making ads that didn’t look like ads at all. This was back in the early days of Ebay when we were amazed what you could buy off the internet (70s condom machine).
Ad 3: During a time when video games were being scrutinized for their excessive violence, we created this subversive “grocery store” ad to: A) stand out from the hoards of monotonous ads in video game publications and B) communicate the carnage of the game without resorting to violent imagery.
